Antonio, in scene III Merchant of Venice says of Shylock the Jew:
"The devil can cite scripture for his purpose.
An evil soul producing holy witness,
Is like a villain with a smiling cheek;
A goodly apple rotten at the heart:
O, what a goodly outside falsehood hath!"
Antonio, scene iii - Merchant of Venice of Shylock the Jew
to which Shylock will reply :
" The villainy you teach me I will execute, it will go down hard but I will better the instruction"
Sounds familiar? And to whose purpose but his own?
